Jacket Jackson….the ultimate concert

Are you a Jacket Jackson fan?  Do you remember “That’s the Way Love Goes” or “Together Again” or “Rhythm Nation”?  Experiencing Jacket Jackson and seeing world’s best dancers for two hours was a real treat.  She had a costume change for every song, and so many dance moves.  The stage kept changing as well − great big LED walls with other musicians for the duets and collaborations was a nice touch.  So were the modern, ballet, African drumming, hip hop, and B-boy action that her dancers put on.  Of course what everyone talked about after was the freaky S & M portion where a really, really happy guy sitting not too far from me was chosen to go onto stage and become her “Slave”.  There never was a dull moment at this concert. My friends and I literately grooved all night to all the familiar tunes. It was like a giant party with 40,000 people.

Her stage was not just at the back of the stadium in GM Place, it was actually a square.  She often trotted down the cat walk with her posse of dancers in various costumes, moving so fast that sometimes the sweat flew off the stage and if you were close enough, it might have just landed on your face.  GM Place was packed, with mostly women − some die hard fans from her first album.  Some ladies wore really cool T-shirts from her previous concerts. It was just amazing to have the whole crowd singing along to EVERY song!  The love of deafening and the respect is clear.

I’m amazed that she grew up in such a talented and messed up family, had a terrific career, lived in the spotlight for so many years, went through the yo-yo diets, the boyfriends and marriages.  She has definitely gained a few pounds and lost the hard abs that she’s so famously known for, but she never lost her brilliant smile and her 110% attitude.  For that Ms. Jackson has got my vote and dedicated following.
